The women in this chapter have inspired me by their courage, faith in humanity, and joy in helping others. Each one contributes a spark of hope to the women’s movement. While many elected politicians jostle for fame and seek rewards, these women have carried out social and political struggles with humility and grace. Each one has had an impact that have improved people’s lives far beyond their imaginations. Some heroines, like Song PokSyn, my aunt, and Mun Ok Sun, the shaman, inspired others through their life stories. Although these women are no longer with us, I have tried to capture the essence of their legacy. Other women in this chapter still have tales to tell. I invite you to know them better.
